Maths
Maths is taught daily using the ‘Third Space Learning’ scheme, which is based around an investigative, problem-solving approach. This approach is focused on mastery, which is achieved through sequencing of concrete, pictorial and abstract concepts. The structure of lessons starts with a fluency task and then is followed by the main teaching focus for the lesson, where pupils are encouraged to explain reasoning and answers through a range of strategies, including manipulatives and bar modelling as well as formal written methods.
